Not just years: this calculator breaks the gap between two dates into calendar years, months and days, the way birthdays actually fall.
How it works
Completed years = full calendar years since birth; then completed months since the last birthday; then remaining days (borrowing the previous month's length when needed). Total days is the plain day-count between the two dates.
Example: born 15 May 1990, on 1 November 2026 you are 36 years, 5 months, 17 days old, having lived 13,319 days. Next birthday: 15 May 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Why not just divide total days by 365?
Because months and years have uneven lengths. Dividing by 365.25 gives an approximation, not the calendar age people use for birthdays.
How are leap-day birthdays handled?
29 February birthdays are counted on 28 February in non-leap years, so someone born 29 February 2000 turns 26 on 28 February 2026.
Does the reference date have to be today?
No — enter any past or future date to get the age on that date, for example for a form or a retirement calculation.
What about time zones?
Dates are treated as calendar dates, so time zones do not change the result.
