Step-Up SIP Calculator
A step-up SIP raises your monthly investment every year — usually in line with a pay rise. The extra early money compounds for the longest, so the final value jumps.
How it works
Each year's monthly amount is PMTy = PMT × (1 + step)y. Instalments are added at the start of each month and then the whole balance grows at the monthly return — the same annuity-due timing as a flat SIP, so a 0% step-up matches the SIP result exactly.
Example: $5,000 a month, 10% step-up, 12% return, 10 years: future value $1,687,163.13 on $956,245.48 invested. A flat $5,000 SIP over the same period gives $1,161,695.38 — the step-up adds over $525,000.
Frequently asked questions
What step-up percentage should I pick?
A common choice is your expected annual pay rise — 5–10% for most salaried workers. The calculator shows the effect of any value.
Does the step-up apply from year one?
No: year one uses the starting amount, and the first increase applies in year two. That matches how real step-up SIPs work.
What if my income does not grow?
Then use a 0% step-up — the result is identical to a flat SIP, which you can verify by setting step-up to 0.
Is the return guaranteed?
No, the return is an assumption. Real market returns vary; treat the result as an illustration, not a promise.
