SIP Calculator
A Systematic Investment Plan invests the same amount every month. Small, regular investments compound into large sums over long periods.
How it works
SIP instalments are assumed at the start of each month, so the future value is the annuity-due formula: FV = PMT × ((1+i)n − 1) ÷ i × (1+i), with i the monthly return and n the number of months.
Example: $5,000 a month at 12% expected return for 10 years: future value $1,161,695.38 on $600,000 invested — $561,695.38 of estimated returns.
Frequently asked questions
Is the return guaranteed?
No. 12% is an assumption, not a promise — market returns vary year to year, and this calculator smooths them into one fixed rate.
Why is the formula multiplied by (1+i)?
Because SIP instalments go in at the start of the month, each one earns one extra month of growth versus end-of-month payments.
SIP or lump sum — which is better?
A lump sum wins if markets rise steadily, because all the money compounds from day one. A SIP wins on discipline and on volatile markets, because it buys more when prices dip.
Does this work for any currency?
Yes — the maths is currency-agnostic. Enter amounts in your own currency and read the result in the same currency.
